BDI's RepCAT technology puts an end to mad cow disease

Styrian plant manufacturer and technology developer BDI-BioEnergy International receives approval from the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) for its innovative RepCAT process for processing contaminated animal fat for Europe.

  • The approval means that high-risk animal fat can not only be disposed of but also safely recycled, thus making an important contribution to the circular economy.
  • The use of a catalyst enables high raw material economy and low operating costs.
  • Three plants using this technology are currently being realized and will be completed successively by mid-2022.
