BDI acquires chemical plastics recycling assets
BDI-BioEnergy International GmbH acquires chemical plastics recycling assets from Next Generation Elements GmbH
- SynCycle technology now fully owned by BDI
- BDI now holds the majority of shares in the SynCycle Operations GmbH plant
- Reactor (T:Cracker) for chemical plastics recycling now marketed by Styria-based company
BDI-BioEnergy International GmbH (BDI) has announced that it has acquired the chemical plastics recycling technology from the Next Generation Elements GmbH (NGE) and now holds the majority of shares for the first plant in Kühnsdorf. This strategic acquisition marks an important milestone in the long-standing partnership between BDI and NGE, which has existed since 2020 and works on developing innovative technologies for the chemical recycling of plastics. The technology is marketed under the brand name SynCycle.
The core component of the technology acquired from NGE is the pyrolysis reactor, which converts polyolefins into pyrolysis oil. This pioneering reactor process technology, which is operated jointly with KRUWE GmbH, will be integrated into BDI's responsibility and scope of supply and further optimised at the Kühnsdorf site. The cooperation in plastics processing with the Next Generation Group, with its group members NGR and Hydrodyn, will continue. This acquisition underscores the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable and progressive process technology solutions.
In future, BDI will take over the marketing and further development of the SynCycle technology in cooperation with its owners, Kanzler Verfahrenstechnik GmbH (KVT), EOSS Industries Holding GmbH (EOSS) and the Rieckermann Group. The aim of this strategic alliance is to pool the existing experience and technologies and to implement these innovative solutions internationally as part of customer projects.
"Our goal is to leverage our experience and BDI's outstanding processing technologies to roll out SynCycle technology worldwide. We are convinced that this technology will contribute significantly to the sustainable and environmentally friendly recycling of plastics," says Manfred Baumgartner, Managing Director at BDI-BioEnergy.
Kurt Ternegg, Managing Director at BDI-BioEnergy, adds: “This strategic acquisition opens up enormous growth prospects for our company with its own core process technology on the promising global market for the chemical recycling of plastics.”
